There is more evidence that eating our Wowser Waffles for breakfast can not only help you lose weight but improve your diabetes and cholesterol as well!
We have always promoted utilization of nuts as part of a Leaner Living diet for all of the benefits seen with consumption of different nuts from improved cholesterol[1] to overall cardiometabolic health[2] mostly due to the quality of fat and high fiber[3] while also being low in empty-calorie carbohydrates. We also encourage at least a moderate portion of quality protein at breakfast due to the improved glucose tolerance and subsequent cholesterol effects over the rest of the day.[4]
Almonds specifically have a very high fiber to carb ratio and high levels of monounsaturated fat which have both been shown to improve lipids and cardiovascular risk. That is why we like to use almond flour in many of our recipes instead of wheat flour, and at the same time can fit into any quality diet from low carb\Atkins to Mediterranean[5][6] to Paleo.
A recent study specifically looked at how almonds for breakfast modulate glucose following the meal and their influence on the next meal.[7] The results were that almonds keep glucose levels low following the next meal. Though whole almonds won the competition overall, it definitely shows that waffles made from almond flour have beneficial effects.
